The Shan State Progressive Party/ Shan State Army (SSPP/SSA) said it’s ready to sign the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NSA) when it’s all inclusive.
“Our organization has been involved with the NCA since the beginning,” Maj Sai Than Aung, spokesperson for the SSPP/SSA, told SHAN after its annual meeting in Wanhai headquarters in northern Shan State.
“We haven’t signed the NCA because not all of the EAOs (ethnic armed organizations) are ready.”
The SSPP/SSA will meet with member organizations of the Northern Alliance and the Federal Political Negotiation Consultative Committee (FPNCC) to discuss how the peace talks with the Burma Army and government can be more inclusive.
Sai Than Aung couldn’t say exactly when the meeting will happen.
The FPNCC is a political negotiation team formed by SSPP/SSA and six other EAOs in Myanmar.
The other EAOs in the FPNCC are the United Wa State Party, Kachin Independence Organisation, Ta’ang National Liberation Army, Arakan Army, National Democratic Alliance Army and Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army.
