In an effort to preserve the Kabyar Wa Beach in the Mon State's Ye Township, the Beach Rule's Enforcement Committee will relocate the shops in a systematic order.
“The existing shops have not been set up systematically. Frankly speaking, they lack good appearance. We have met with the local residents and the shop owners to rebuild them. The negotiation went well,” U Aung Naing Win, member of the Beach Rule’s Enforcement Committee, told the Mon News Agency.
He continued that the program will be submitted to the Mon State government in the second week of January and implemented within February.
The program comprises the systematic relocation of shops, designation of dump sites, car parking arrangements, and repair of the beach roads.
According to the committee’s chairman U Aung Ko Ko, tax collected from the shops will used for road repair and beach development and shop owners will have to rebuild their shops at their own costs.
“We will pave the roads and develop the beach with the budget from the shops. The committee will handle the resettlement and roads. A model will be set down for the shops. They have to build them (the shops) on their own,” said U Aung Ko Ko, who is also the administrator of Khaw Zar.
The Beach Rule’s Enforcement Committee was established on November 16, 2017 with 22 members with the aim to preserve and develop the beach and conserve the environment.
