Revolutionary Joint Forces Strikes Military Council Troops at Hpasawng Township Exit, Seizes Weapons and Ammunition

The revolutionary joint forces launched an attack on the Military Council location at the exit of Hpasawng Township, Kayah (Karenni) State, resulting in the seizure of weapons and ammunition.

On July 28, Colonel Phone Naing, the Adjutant General of the Karenni Army (KA), informed the Kantarawaddy Times that on the morning of July 27, the revolutionary joint forces launched an attack on the Military Council location situated outside Hpasawng Township. As a result of the operation, the forces managed to seize a quantity of weapons and ammunition.

Colonel Phone Naing reported, "The battle occurred at the exit of Hpasawng, along the road from Hpasawng to Loikaw. Our forces initiated an attack on the enemy inside a substantial house on the morning of July 27. It is likely that many of their troops were injured in the encounter. As of now, we have not received detailed updates. However, we successfully seized some of the enemy's weapons and ammunition during the operation."

As the exact casualties on both sides during the battle remain unknown, Colonel Phone Naing estimated that the Military Council troops may have incurred approximately 20 casualties due to the seizure of weapons and ammunition.

The revolutionary joint forces managed to seize some mortar rounds, small arms ammunition, and various other items belonging to the Military Council.

Colonel Phone Naing said, "I'm not sure about the exact number of casualties, but we seized a lot of items, so it might be around ten or twenty individuals. The enemy's casualties can be estimated from the weapons and ammunition we captured. As for the airstrikes, they have been happening frequently, and I've lost count."

Since July 21 until today, there has been ongoing conflict between the Military Council, deploying over 300 troops, and the joint defense forces on the east side of the Thanlwin Bridge in Hpasawng Township. Additionally, the Military Council has resorted to bombing the area with warplanes as part of their military operations.

As of now, various defense forces involved in the current fighting situation have not made any public announcements or statements regarding the ongoing conflict.

Presently, clashes between the Military Council and the defense joint forces are occurring in various regions of Karenni State. The Military Council has been engaging in aggressive actions, including firing artillery shells and conducting airstrikes. In response to the escalating situation, the defense forces have issued a warning to the public, urging them to exercise caution and remain vigilant for their safety.
