The Interim Chin National Consultative Council (ICNCC) announced the establishment of the Chin People's Administrative Committee On January 27th , to government Chin State.
The recently established committee collaborates with local administrative teams to enhance the delivery of essential civil services for the Chin community, the statement said.
The committee will also collaborate with the National Unity Government (NUG) and the Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) through ICNCC.
ICNCC incorporates specialized units dedicated to addressing additional townships and regions, Chin Hluttaw representatives (inclusive of the Chinland Defense Force, CDF), international outreach for Chin people, and Chin staffers actively participating in the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM). According to Acting Chairperson Dr. Kin Tang Lin, in a mid-January interview with Khonumthung News, operations at the township level are currently underway in six townships.
However the Chinland Council (CC), threatens to set up rival bodies to challenge the ICNCC administrative organs, comprising resistance forces under the umbrella of the Chin National Front (CNF). They have proclaimed parallel version of the Chin State Government, the Chin State Parliament, and associated legal mechanisms will be set up by February 3rd.
The Chin public and civic organizations are alarmed about this threat to Chin unity. They have urged a meeting to engage in negotiations and seek solutions to prevent the emergence of deep divisions among the Chin ethnic community resulting from this rivalry.
ICNCC is actively working to foster a political consensus among various Chin groups with differing opinions. It has also declared the forthcoming establishment of the Chin State Government upon the successful completion of the Chin Charter, a document set to be crafted by ICNCC's Reform Committee.
ICNCC has also declared its intention to convene meetings with all stakeholder organizations, aiming to facilitate discussions and prevent potential conflicts among Chin resistance forces, with the overarching goal of fostering unity within among all Chin ethnic groups.
"These two forces may harbor different concepts, but I am confident that despite their diverse origins, their ultimate destinations will align. We encourage everyone to reflect on what holds greater significance — the formation of a government and council or fostering unity”, Ko Eddy, spokesperson of Chin Civic Movement said.
Nearly 550 individuals and 39 Chin organizations, both domestic and international, have signed in support of the Chin Civic Movement's request.
