A resident from Hpailin village reported that the Military Council conducted airstrikes on both Hpailin village and Thanan village in Myo Thit Township, Tamu District, Sagaing Region. As a result, the entire residents of these villages have fled to ensure their safety.
Residents stated that following an attack by local defense forces, which resulted in the capture of the Military Council camp in Thanan village on November 22, the Military Council conducted airstrikes on both Thanan and Hpailin villages.
The resident shared, "Throughout last Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, the military conducted airstrikes continuously for three days. As they targeted the vicinity of the village, the entire population of Thanan village and Hpailin village evacuated. Though I can't confirm the exact population, that probably exceeds a thousand people."
Thanan village and Hpailin village are situated along the Tamu-Aung Zeya highway. Thanan village, where Military Council troops are stationed, comprising nearly 200 houses, while Hpailin village has more than 200 houses. The resident also mentioned that individuals from Mantaw Village, Aung Zeya Pagoda, and Shwelaybo, in proximity to Thanan and Hpailin Villages, are fleeing to safer locations due to concerns about potential airstrikes by the Military Council.
It is reported that Junta forces carried out airstrikes to reclaim the military base in Thanan village and also engaged in ground military operations. According to a Kuki people, two Kuki youths were reportedly arrested during the military operation.
"A young man from Zaydi village and another from Shwelaybo village were arrested. Both individuals belong to the Kuki community. They were apprehended without any apparent reason," he said.
It is understood that the Military Council camp in Thanan village is under the control of local defense forces. There is a possibility of ongoing conflict, and locals may face arbitrary arrests. It is advised for the residents to remain vigilant and alert during this period.
