People who fled from the war in Namhsan face acute shortage of water and clothing

People fleeing from the war-zone have taken refuge in the town of Namhsan, northern Shan State are now in great need of clothes and water.

Due to the fighting between the Military Council and the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA), more than 1000 people have temporarily taken refuge in the monastery in Namhsan.

There is a problem accessing sufficient water for over a 1000’ refugees, many of them fleeing for their lives, and had no time to bring extra clothes.

Some good Samaritans who are helping the displaced people told Shan Herald, “There are difficulties in getting enough food and water. Donations are needed. Some have come with only one set of clothes on their body. For those who do not have extra clothes, we also need clothes.”

Those who fled the conflicts are the residents of Kone Thar, Pan Lot, Hu Man, Man Lon, Pein Lon, Tar Hle and Tar Ngan villages. There are also some refugees arriving in Man Lon village.

“ Around 300 people have not fled yet and are still in Man Lon.They are cooking food and delivering it to the refugees who are in Namhsan”  a volunteer helping the displaced people told Shan Herald.

The Military Council and TNLA started fighting on December 7th, and the combat situation is still tense there.
