A total of 1,452,750 WY tablets worth over Ks 4.3 billion were seized in Buthidaung, Rakhine (Arakan) State on August 25.
“Yes, it’s true. We seized them at around 6:30 pm yesterday evening (August 25). The total number of seized stimulant tablets is over one million and four hundred and fifty thousand,” Police Lt-Col Tun Myint Tun from Maungdaw District Police Force confirmed to Narinjara News.
The police seized the stimulant tablets from a vehicle at the town entry-exit checkpoint in Ward 5 in Buthidaung while it was driven along Danyawaddy Road to the checkpoint.
The driver, Aung Myo Lwin (age 27), and his companion Kyaw Soe Oo (age 41) were arrested for carrying the drugs in the back of the vehicle. Both men are residents of Ward 1 in Hlaingtharyar Township, Yangon Region, according to the police report.
“We seized [the drugs] when we searched the vehicle based on a tip-off and suspicion. We have recently been able to seize Yaba stimulant tablets because rule of law and anti-narcotic and drug seizure are including among the aims and duties of the Myanmar Police Force. We have been able to seize them due to our strict enforcement,” said the District Police Lt-Col.
