The Defense Ministry of the National Unity Government (NUG) announced the successful capture of Khampat on November 7th, a town situated in the Tamu District of the Sagaing Region near the Indian border.
NUG stated that the Tamu District Command under No. 1 Military Region implemented strategic plans, enabling the Kachin Independence Army (KIA), People's Defense Force (PDF), People's Defense Teams (PDTs), and other resistance forces to collaborate and successfully capture Khampat on November 7th.
According to NUG’s statement, this capture of Khampat town involved the participation of various units, including the Tamu District 2nd Battalion, Military Region's Special 2nd Battalion, No. 1 Military Region's artillery unit, frontline commanding unit, Chin National Defense Force (CNDF), Kuki National Army (KNA-Burma), Thado Defence Army (TDA), and the Ranger Kalay Defense Force (RKDF).
Starting on November 3rd, resistance forces surrounded Khampat, and by November 7th, the entire town was captured. Now area clearance operations have begun to ensure the town's security.
Under the plans of the Central Command and Coordination Committee (C3C), in No. 1 Military Region, the Commander-in-Chief of the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) assumes the role of the head of the Military Region, with KIA officers serving as District Commanders and overseeing the training of People's Defense Force (PDF) battalions and People's Defense Teams (PDTs), while closely commanding the entire Military Region.
On November 6th, PDF and its allies successfully captured the town of Kawlin, which serves as the administrative headquarters of Kawlin District in Sagaing Region.
