NLD govt to add new job creating ministry in remaining term

Mandalay Region legislative assembly approved on June 21 at its session to establish new ministry in Mandalay Region government for creating job opportunities and collecting accurate census data.

The region assembly approved the submission presented by the Mandalay region government to establish a new “Immigration and Human Resources Ministry” as per the instruction given by President Win Myint to establish this new ministry in all State and Region governments throughout the country.

Mandalay Region government Chief Minister Dr. Zaw Myint Maung said, “This new ministry will handle job creating matters in our remaining tenure. The main objective of establishing this new ministry is to handle human resources matters. Frankly speaking, this ministry will handle creating job opportunities in our remaining tenure of one and half year.”

Since the region assembly has approved the establishment of this new ministry, the region government will send a list of three candidates to be appointed as minister of this new ministry.

Though he did not disclose the names of these candidates exactly, Dr. Zaw Myint Maung said that this new ministry would be established as soon as the region government receives confirmation from the President and the candidate for the new minister would be either from former civil servants with administrative experience or legislators.

Article 248(a)(c) of constitution stipulates ‘The President, with the approval of the Region or State Hluttaw (assembly) concerned, may specify the Region or State Ministries as may be necessary. Moreover he may make changes and additions to the specified Ministries.
