The Government of Chinland, established by Chin ethnic resistance forces in Chin State, is set to finalize appointments for the prime minister, cabinet members, chief justice, and judiciary members this week, the Chinland Council announced on January 23rd.
The second edition of the Electoral Committee meeting took place on January 22nd and 23rd in Chinlon town, the headquarters of the Chin National Front (CNF).
During the meeting, negotiations were undertaken to determine the positions of the Prime Minister, Ministers, Attorney General, Auditor General, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Chinland, and other Judges based on nominations submitted by various factions.
The Chinland Council has affirmed that the decisions regarding the selection of these positions will be concluded this week.
Under the leadership of the Chinland Council, representatives from CNF, its armed wing Chin National Army (CNA), and officials from local defense force factions convened on January 16th to discuss the allocation of responsibilities for the establishment of the Ministry of Defense in the Government of Chinland.
Khonumthung News reached out for comments on the discussions about the formation of the Ministry of Defense. In response, Salai Htet Ni, Joint Secretary 1 of the Chinland Council, declined to comment at this moment, citing that detailed discussions have not yet been finalized.
On December 12th, the debut meeting of the Electoral Committee took place, focusing on the formation of the Government of Chinland and the Supreme Court of Chinland, during which nominations from different factions were accepted, initiating the verification process.
The Chinland Council is composed of CNF/CNA, 14 Chinland Defense Force (CDF) factions, and elected parliamentarians from Chin State, while there are Chin ethnic resistance forces that have opted not to cooperate with the Chinland Council.
