Muse residents to receive border passes to renew trade with China to ending the Covid-19 suspension of traffic

In order to cross the Myanmar-China border gate in Muse Township, Muse District, Shan State, residents of Muse are being processed and issued with a red border pass.

On January 25, at the Shwe Nan Taw gate, which is the Myanmar-China border gate in Muse township, relevant department officials processed the border passes for Muse residents.

An official at the Shwe Nan Taw gate told the Shan Herald News Agency that the red passports are being processed by relevant officials under the Military Council.

“It is being done at the Shwe Nan Taw gate. First of all will do for Muse and Namkhan people who hold 13/ national ID cards. To get a border pass, you will need a copy of the national ID, a copy of the household list and 3 passport photos," said an official at the Shwe Nan Taw gate.

Currently, the exact cost of the Myanmar-China passport is not yet known, a resident of Muse told the Shan Herald News Agency.

“ We don’t know when it will start being used. Last year it only cost 500 kyats for the border pass, but I think the price will change this year and will be valid for 1 year.” A muse resident said.

The Myanmar-China border trade gates were closed for more than 3 years due to the Covid-19 and political situation, and were reopened on the Chinese side on January 8, but the Myanmar side is still closed to traffic.
