The Mon State Federal Council (MSFC) believes that the overthrow of the military dictatorship, through armed revolution, is the only way to achieve the self-determination and federal democratic union which the Mon people have long aspired to.
On December 5th, MSFC released a statement calling on all Mon youths and revolutionary forces to vehemently resist the terrorist attacks launched by the Military Council against the people of Mon State.
MSFC further advocates for the engagement of youth from various ethnicities, including Mon youth in Mon State, to actively oppose the present military dictatorship, aiming to contribute towards the establishment of a future free and egalitarian federal union.
The New Mon State Party (NMSP), a political party representing the Mon people, is dedicated to resolving political issues through peaceful means and dialogue, refraining from participation in the armed struggle against the military dictatorship.
Following the Chaunghnakhwa battle between Mon and Karen states in the second week of November, the Southern Command of the Military Council, along with its battalions and outposts, conducted artillery shelling and aerial attacks on villages in Kyaikmaraw Township.
As a result of these attacks, thousands of residents in the villages inhabited by the Mon people were compelled to flee to safe areas, as reported by MSFC.
The Military Council perpetrated atrocities not only in Kyaikmaraw Township but also in Kyaikto, Belin, Thaton, Thanbyuzayat, and Ye townships, as outlined in MSFC’s statement.
Moreover, MSFC strongly denounces the Military Council's assault on innocent civilians as a grave breach of military regulations, asserting that the junta has perpetrated war crimes against humanity across the nation, including in Mon State.
MSFC also advised the Mon people to avoid crowded places, engage in trench-digging as a precautionary measure, stay updated on military developments, and adhere to wartime guidelines for their safety.
MSFC also urges the public, including monks, social organizations, and local political groups, to lend their support to internally displaced people (IDPs) to the best of their capacity.
