A fourteen-year-old was killed by Burma Army (BA) shelling in a village in Mindat Township during clashes with the Mindat Chinland Defence Force (CDF).
At 10am on Wednesday, June 29, Infantry Battalion (IB) 274 shelled Madap, where the boy lived, and Kyar Ein Nue.
A local source said the boy’s younger brother is in the hospital after his leg had to be amputated after a shell landed near their house on 23 May. IB 274 fired six shells that day, wounding the brother and an eleven-year-old in the village.
On Wednesday, the army also shelled Kyar Ein Nue, killing a pig and damaging a house.
According to Salai Yaw Mang, the CDF spokesperson for Mindat, clashes also broke out near Palontwi in the morning and afternoon.
On June 16, IB 274 attacked Mwi Twi with artillery, killing a 70-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman when they were farming.
