Daw Su Myar, 55, was hit by shrapnel in her right thigh and eventually bled to death when two artillery shells exploded in a war-refugee camp west of Demoso while she was sleeping, her husband said.

The husband explained, “The shrapnel came through the roof of the tent. She told me that her right thigh was broken. I held her hand told her,” nothing bad would happen.” But the bleeding was so profuse that she lost her life”, he explained.

Daw Su Myar was a resident of Dor No Koo village. She worked in the village during the day and slept at the refugee camp at night. There are around 20 displaced people living in tents in the same refugee camp.

His right hand was paralyzed and he could not move. Now the left hand that could move has been broken by artillery shrapnel”, he said.
