Within three days, more than 150 patients are taking treatment in Isolation Ward-3 in Mawlamyine, Mon State which is preparing to accept the COVID-19 patients.
During the second wave of COVID-19, Isolation wards 1, and 3 in Mawlamyine have opened for the treatment of COVID-19 patients.
In February, health checks were suspended due to political instability, and isolation wards have closed.
People had forgotten about COVID-19 because there were no daily diagnostic tests and there are continuously confirmed COVID-19 infected cases after the re-testing cases according to Ko Zin Moe from the Mawlamyine Rescue Team.
Since further diagnostic testing of the family members of the confirmed patients revealed that COVID-19 has infected almost all of them, more than 100 cases of infection were tested in two or three days.
"Currently, for the treatment of COVID-19 patients in Mawlamyine, the Isolation Ward 1 and 3 as previous wards which were closed, are reopening and accepting the patients. In Isolation Ward 3 which prepares for 200 patients, there have been about 150 people in two or three days. It will be full soon”, said Ko Zin Moe.
Most of those infected were middle-aged, and there include children and elders in the ongoing screening of family members.
Through the diagnostic testing of the people who are suspects and loss of smell, they become the confirmed cases of COVID-19 and their family members have continued infection.
24 confirmed cases in Mawlamyine have been found according to a statement from the Ministry of Health and Sports on June 20.
