It is reported that the lockdown will be extended in Pinlaung (Panglaung) township, Southern Shan State, in order to contain the spread of the Covid-19.
The lockdown period will be continued up to 21st November 2021 according to a local source.
“Yes. Lockdown will be extended. The main reason is to control the spread of Covid-19. New positive cases are declining, not as many as it used to be,” a member of the local volunteer group told SHAN.
Additionally, group gathering and local market trading are not allowed on Tazaungdaing full moon day which is on November 18, 2021.
In accordance with some local residents, the lockdown has been ongoing for one month in Pinlaung township, and it could have an impact on local livelihood.
“There are some minor effects on our daily life. Workers are allowed to go to work. Those who stay home like me have nothing to do. Because of the lockdown, shops have almost no customers. Overall, the lockdown has short term consequences to our livelihood,” a local woman told SHAN.
In order to handle the spread of Covid-19 in Pinlaung (Panglaung) township, lockdown has been put in place since the 1st November 2021.
