At least 5 killed after Junta troops accidently bombarded their own camp in Mobye

On February 8th, during a fierce fighting in Mobye (Mongpai), 3 shells unleashed by the Military Council which provided artillery support, landed and exploded on Mount Sat-Taw-Yar, where their own troops were stationed. In that accidental friendly fire incident, 5 Military Council troops were killed, and some others were wounded, according to Mobye-PDF (People's Defense Forces - Mobye).

Moebye-based 422nd Light Infantry Division, the Military Council troops separately garrisoned in Warisu Pala village and Pekon township provided artillery support to their forces fighting in the combat zone, but such terrible friendly fire error occurred. On that day, the local defense joint forces had a fierce battle with the Military Council troops, which had a large number of reinforcements, including a main battle tank, from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

Although the resistance joint forces were able to retreat unharmed, the military situation around Mobye remained tense. Therefore, Mobye-PDF urges and warns the public not to travel through the combat area.

Mobye-PDF also announced that the Mobye-Pekin Road will be closed indefinitely as the Military Council launched a major offensive in Mobye.
