The Karen National Union (KNU) has called upon the young generation to resist every action of the illegal Junta with all available means, vowing to provide them with maximum support in their defiance.
The KNU issued a statement on February 19th in response to the Military Council's implementation of the conscription law opposing all conscription laws being enforced
by the Junta, asserting that , “ they (the Junta) aims to escalate the entire country into the whirlpool of war and perpetuate military dictatorship,” emphasizing that the public is not obligated to comply with them.
They have has also called upon all ethnicities, to join in anti-Junta activities, such as refusing to participate in the enforcement of unjust laws, engaging in political defiance, and collaborating with resistance groups.
The KNU also emphasized that only through the complete eradication of Myanmar's military dictatorship can the Junta's tactics of tormenting and oppressing the people, resorting to violence and unjust killings, and transforming the nation into a battlefield, be brought to an end.
Following coup leader Min Aung Hlaing's activation of the conscription law, numerous young individuals who are unwilling to serve in the military for the Junta are seeking to leave the country, while simultaneously, the number of inquiries to join resistance forces is on the rise.
