The troops of the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and the People's Defense Force (PDF) captured the Junta’s outpost located near Nammaw village in Hpakant Township, as well as the Kathaingtaung Base, According to a reliable source within the KIA, the attack resulted in the complete destruction of the Military Council's battalion
stationed at the Kathaingtaung Base on August 7th, and a significant haul of weapons and ammunition was successfully seized by the joint forces.
In addition to capturing the Kathaingtaung Base of the Military Council in Hpakant Township of Kachin State, the troops of the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and the People's Defense Force (PDF) also managed to take control of the Shanni Nationalities Army (SNA)'s camp located near the suspension bridge in Sezin village.
"Our troops have captured Kathaingtaung Base. We occupied the Nammaw outpost with the aim to stop enemy reinforcements. Our main goal was Kathaingtaung Base. Those involved in the offensive reported the camp was completely burned down”, KIC was informed.
KIA launched the assault as a response to the soldiers stationed at Kathaingtaung Base conducting strict inspections and imposing excessive taxes on local farmers in the surrounding area.
The joint offensive by KIA and PDF has confirmed the destruction of two Military Council frontline posts, but the exact number of casualties and the amount of seized weapons remain unknown at this time.

According to a local source, the Military Council's camps in Nammaw and Kathaingtaung, housing the battalions under the Hpakant-based 33rd Division, are situated on hills of strategic significance.
The Nammaw and Kathaingtaung frontline posts, which were captured by KIA and PDF, were situated approximately 10 miles away from Hpakant and had around 60 deployed Military Council troops.
"The Nammaw outpost's location is crucial strategically. It sits high above Saitaung village, enabling troops stationed there to cut off the advancing enemy forces from Tarmakhan and Hawngpar”, he explained.
