KIA allied forces attack Myanmar Junta Convoy

According to frontline sources from the Kachin Independence Army (KIA), a military convoy heading to support the intense fighting in Momauk Township was attacked, destroying four military vehicles, including one armored vehicle.

KIA allied forces attacked a convoy of five military vehicles traveling between six and seven miles from the Bhamo area. The convoy, which was en route to evacuate injured soldiers and transport military equipment, was targeted while heading to support Light Infantry Battalion 437 amid fierce battles that have been ongoing for about a month.

A frontline source said: "One military vehicle was captured, while three others were set on fire and destroyed. The armored vehicle, unable to move due to mechanical issues, was left on the road. The military then used aircraft to bomb it, causing it to burn and be destroyed. Junta’s primary aim was to evacuate injured personnel and deliver weapons, but this objective was thwarted."

This morning, around 7:30 a.m., the military council’s forces launched continuous airstrikes between six and seven miles where KIA allied forces had ambushed and attacked, using Y-12 aircraft. This destroyed one armored vehicle.

Additionally, of the five military vehicles traveling from the Bhamo area, four were destroyed by fire, and one was captured by KIA allied forces along with some weapons.

Regarding the destruction of three military vehicles by KIA forces, Colonel Naw Bu, the spokesperson for KIO's news and information, responded that he has not yet received detailed information.

Colonel Naw Bu said: “We do not yet have detailed information about the news. However, the Momauk battle is intensifying day by day. The military is using both aerial and ground attacks, and fighting between the two sides is very fierce.”

As of 1 p.m. today, August 19, the fighting in the Moemauk battle remains intense. Due to casualties among the military council's forces, efforts are underway to evacuate the injured. Additionally, five military vehicles returning to reinforce the junta forces were also attacked while en route.

According to frontline sources from the KIA, while the KIA allied forces have managed to capture a significant portion of the Momauk Light Infantry Battalion 437, some critical areas are left, so the situation has not yet been fully completed.

The Momauk battle, which KIA forces resumed on 21 July, has now been ongoing for about a month.

The Moemauk Light Infantry Battalion 437, which is a crucial military unit encompassing Momauk town, Bhamo, and extending to the Lwegel town near the China-Myanmar border, is a highly strategic area. As a result, the military council's forces are intensively defending their LIB 437 base with airstrikes and drone attacks.
