Another step  along the path of the Spring Revolution has been taken by the Karenni revolutionary movement  with  the  formation of the Karenni State Interim Executive Council (IEC) that was declared on June 10th.

Chairman Khu Oo Reh in his speech affirmed, “  "We are proud to recognize that brave young individuals from all over the country, including our national Karenni youth, are fighting against the evil military dictatorship, despite the challenges they face in the harsh jungles and ravines. At the same time, we don't want our dreams and hopes to be lost in this ongoing revolution. That's why we started this IEC, even though we face many obstacles." stated Chairman Khu Oo Reh in his speech.

Under the political leadership and policy guidelines of the Karenni State Consultative Council (KSCC), the Karenni State Interim Executive Council (IEC) was constituted on June 6, 2023, consisting of six members.

The formation of the Karenni State Interim Executive Council (IEC) took place with a collective leadership approach, aiming to effectively administer the interim state government. The council's primary objectives include maintaining a balance among the legislative, administrative, and judicial sectors, fostering peace and stability within the state, and actively collaborating with various forces within the region.

During the official announcement ceremony, Duwa Lashi La, the Acting President of the National Unity Government (NUG), delivered a speech to the attendees. The President of the Karenni State Interim Executive Council (IEC) then delivered an opening speech, while official letters were duly recorded. A brief account of the IEC's history was also presented, followed by a thank-you speech from the Vice President.

In his speech Acting NUG President  Duwa Lashi La declared,” "I believe that establishing an Interim Executive Council in Karenni State has been a challenging task. Karenni State has sacrificed a great deal of lives, effort, and determination to reach this point. I want to be the first to say that I am proud of this achievement. Karenni State is a country or state, which possesses truly unique qualities during the spring revolution. Now the Karenni State's revolutionary resistance is bigger than the area of the state. Witnessing the strength and bravery displayed by the revolutionaries in Karenni State is truly awe-inspiring."

According to the statement, the IEC expressed its commitment to persistently mobilize the revolutionary forces and ensure public safety. The council will assume responsibility for the effective management of essential public services, including the police department and prisons. Additionally, the IEC emphasized its dedication to upholding law enforcement activities within Karenni State.

The Karenni State Interim Executive Council (IEC) aims to have at least 12 state affairs departments. Following the policy guidelines of the Karenni State Consultative Council (KSCC), the IEC is committed to properly managing the state's tax funds for the welfare of civil servants and the people.

Within the Karenni State Interim Executive Council (IEC), Khu Oo Reh, the chairman of the Karenni National Progressive Party (KNPP), assumed the position of chairman. Khun Bi Htoo, the chairman of the Karenni Nationalities Defense Force (KNDF), served as the vice chairman. Other key positions were held by Khu Plu Reh as the General Secretary, Ma Zue Padoma as Secretary-1, Banyar Khun Aung as Secretary-2, and Maw Pho Myar as the Treasurer.

The Karenni State Interim Executive Council (IEC) extends a special invitation to civil servants and intellectuals who have joined the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM), urging them to work together with the full support of the entire public.

It is stated that upon the formation of the new government of Karenni State, which aligns with the right to self-determination, the IEC will be dissolved according to the provisions set forth.

The statement also mentioned that the Interim Executive Council (IEC) will actively cooperate with different forces to address the deteriorating conditions in the country and work towards bringing about positive changes.
