Kaladan road construction temporarily halted due to lack of workers

Although eight bridges have to be built on the road connecting Lawngtlai, Mizoram State with Paletwa, Chin State under the Kaladan Multi Modal Transit Transport Project, the construction has been temporary halted due to lack of workers.

The Aizawl Post reported that the 87-km Kaladan project includes three major bridges and five minor bridges and construction on the major bridge started after IIT Guwahati inspected the bridge construction in October 2017.

Construction was halted due to protests by land owners and the bridge construction workers returned back home so they are unable to resume the construction.

The company has made several attempts to recall the skilled workers that returned home but there still has not been any development.
