Junta’s Helicopters Bomb Mon Villages Nearly 2000 locals fled after military helicopters bombed Taung Kalay village

About 2000 residents fled to safety after the Military Council's military helicopters launched bombing attacks on Taung Kalay village in Kyaikmaraw township of Mon State on the morning of November 21.

At around 5:00 AM in the morning on November 21, the military council troops stationed in the Taung Kalay village police station were attacked by the revolutionary joint forces. After that, an artillery battalion based in Abit village fired into Taung Kalay village, and 2 helicopters of the

Southeast Regional Command also came and bombed the village, forcing the villagers to flee for their lives.

"The fighting started at around 5:00 am. At around 6:00 am, helicopters arrived and bombarded the village. Cannons were fired from other locations and all the villagers fled. The helicopters came back again and are still attacking the village," a Taung Kalay villager, who did not want to be named, told KIC.

The helicopters circled above the village at least 20 times, dropping bombs and firing machine guns, hence the houses and buildings were damaged. The villager also said that he saw a man lying dead on the road in the middle of the village.

In addition, the artillery battalion and Border Guard Forces (BGF) outposts based in Abit village also bombarded the village, some Taung Kalay villagers confirmed.

After 2 military helicopters dropped bombs and firing with machine guns on the village between 6:00 and 9:00 AM, a fighter plane hovered in the sky above the village at past 10:00 AM, villagers said.

Due to the fighting, travel is currently interrupted on Kyainseikgyi-Mudon-Chaung Nakhwa- Kyaikmaraw Road, according to the volunteers helping the displaced people.
