Junta forces launched artillery bombardment near the KIO headquarters in Laiza

Laiza township, a territory controlled by the Kachin Independence Organization/ Kachin Independence Army (KIO/KIA), was shelled by the Military Council from around 3:00 PM today.

Two artillery shells fired from Mount Khara, a Military Council camp base, exploding on a hill near Laiza township, a local said. “I haven’t heard any rounds falling in Laiza yet, but two landed on a hill 3 miles from the town”, he told KNG.

According to Laiza residents, the Military Council continued to shell at least ten rounds this evening.

The Military Council has launched artillery attacks on Laiza in July and August a total of three separate attacks targeting Laiza.
