The Kokang News reported that the Military Council has once again deployed ‘chemical bombs’ in the ongoing clashes in northern Shan State.

The Military Council is reported to have launched four chemical attacks at the Namsalat hill-based military camp, which was occupied by the Kokang ethnic armed organization, the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) on November 23rd . As a result, some MNDAA troops experienced dizziness and vomiting.

Facing a significant setback following the loss of nearly 200 outposts and 9 townships to the 'Operation 1027,' jointly executed by three ethnic armed organizations (EAOs) in northern Shan State, the Military Council is accused by resistance forces of violating international agreements through three chemical bomb attacks on them.

However the UN convention that bans the use of chemical weapons primarily covers the potentially lethal nerve gases and white phosphorous – the latter has been reported as deployed by the Junta. It does appear to cover the chemical weapon used in this case.

On November 18th, the Military Council attacked an outpost occupied by the Ta'ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) using chemical weapons, leading to one TNLA soldier experiencing symptoms of chemical poisoning.

Similarly, on November 14th, during the TNLA's offensive to capture the Monekyet outpost in Lashio Township, The Kokang News reported that the Military Council deployed a ‘chemical bomb’ in order to thwart the TNLA advance.
