IEC Establishes The Karenni State’s Supreme Court

The Karenni State Interim Executive Council (IEC) inaugurated the Supreme Court at an undisclosed location in Karenni State, marking a significant step in implementing its ambitious measures during the interim.

IEC Chief Justice Khu Poe Reh stated that the Supreme Court aims to provide improved judicial support to the people.

"We have been working hard for the establishment of the Supreme Court for about six months. At the beginning of the year, the Department of Justice and the People's Assembly began selecting judges. The judges were officially recognized and appointed by IEC in January. We want to inform the public that our Supreme Court now exists to provide better legal services to the Karenni people”, he said.

IEC has now established three township-level courts, one district-level court, and one state supreme court, with plans to expand to more judicial entities.

" The existing district and township level courts, previously opened under the Karenni State government, will now function together under the newly established Supreme Court”, Khu Poe Reh added.

IEC aims to strengthen the judicial system by integrating the existing courts with the newly established Supreme Court.
