History Will Be The Judge Of Coup Leaders, Says Dr Sasa

Dr Sasa was chosen as special envoy to UN by Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw, established by lawmakers several days after the military regime staged a coup.

“People will never lose to injustice. Freedom, justice, democracy and federalism will forever prevail,” the philanthropist and doctor wrote on his Facebook page.

Sasa was appointed as the special envoy on February 22.

After studying medicine in Armenia, he founded the Health and Hope Foundation, which trains villagers in Chin State as community health workers. During the 2020 race, Sasa played a leading role in the National League for Democracy’s election campaign in the western state. He is reputed to be close to the British Royal Family.

“History will be the judge of coup leaders and those who supported it,” he said. The “brave people” resisting the military military dictatorship will be victorious.

“I’m requesting for the international community to stand with the 54 million people in Burma and not work with the six military coup leaders.”

Meanwhile, the Chin National League for Democracy (CNLD) is still undecided about attending a meeting called by the military-appointed Union Election Committee (UEC).

After receiving an invitation letter, CNLD General Secretary Salai Ceu Bik Thawng told Khonumthung News that the party still needs to discuss it.

The Zomi Congress for Democracy (ZCD) hasn’t received a letter but said it will go if invited.

After the coup, the junta asked CNLD and ZCD to join the State Administrative Council, installed to replace the democratic government, but the Chin parties refused.

Thein Soe is leading the new UEC, which was assembled by the State Administrative Council.

Many ethnic political parties that contested the 2020 general election received invitations to the meeting in Naypyidaw this Friday, February 26.
