Four banknotes counterfeiters were arrested in Auk Kyin Ward and Thudhamawadi Myothit, (A) Ward, Thaton Township.
On the night of 19 June, according to the local, three counterfeit 5,000 kyat banknotes were found in a house on Ko Eain Su Road, Kan Nyi Naung Section, Auk Kyin Ward.
He said, "It is learned that the house in Auk Kyin was searched first, according to the report. When they found counterfeit money in that house, they went to Myothit (A) ward again. "
According to the investigation, the house of Than Wai, a resident of Myothit (A) ward, was raided.
During the search, 171 counterfeit 10,000 kyats denominated banknotes, 1,265 counterfeit 5,000 kyats denominated banknotes, 15 counterfeit 1,000 kyats denominated banknotes and related materials used in printing counterfeit banknotes were found and confiscated.
Four people, including Than Wai, who were arrested with counterfeit banknotes, are being prosecuted in connection with the incident. They are still investigating the arrests, according to the Thaton police station.
Last month, counterfeit banknotes were seized in some townships in Yangon, Mayangone, Dagon Port, and Shwepyithar townships.
