Junta troops arrested a former Kachin Independence Organization (KIO) officer, arrested former KIO officer U Da Shi La Dwe, along with his wife, son, and a woman October 17th at their Bhamo residence. They are presently all detained at the 21st Tactical Operation Command in Bhamo Township, Kachin State.

The 21st Tactical Operation Command based in Bhamo, along with the local police, apprehended the KIO officer and his family, and stole valuable items from the residence. On October 18th they revisited the house and detonated the residence with explosives.

"Their actions were excessive; not only did they detain the entire family, but they also looted valuable possessions and demolished the house”, a local told KNG. He added, "It's confirmed that all three family members were arrested, along with a woman who was staying at their house. The locals are avoiding the area, as the Military Council is closely monitoring it.”

Bhamo has become a hub for District-level administrative offices, owing to its strategic location on the banks of the Ayeyarwady River, making it a central logistics point. Whenever Military Council vessels from Mandalay arrive and dock at Bhamo, they consistently implement strict security measures to  intimidate the local population.

Recently the Military Council forces have apprehended individuals believed to be affiliated with the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and the People's Defense Force (PDF) in Bhamo Township.According to Bhamo residents, there has also been a recent increase in overnight guest list checks for houses suspected of having connections to KIA and PDF.

In the aftermath of the coup, there were numerous collaborative assaults by KIA and PDF on governmental offices and facilities controlled by Junta troops in Bhamo Township. Just last week, a drone attack targeted the 5-Mile checkpoint on the outskirts of Bhamo.
