Eleven members of Chin defense joint forces killed in Hakha-Thantlang battle

Heavy fighting between the Chin defense joint forces and the Junta in the Thi Mit area, situated between Hakha and Thantlang townships in Chin State, has resulted in the tragic loss of 11 Chin resistance comrades' lives, according to sources familiar with the conflict.

The comprehensive list of those affected will be disclosed by the appropriate authorities at a later time”, a source said.

The Military Council deployed over 200 troops to initiate an offensive in the Thi Mit area, employing air support as well.

During the intense combat, a total of 8 comrades from CDF-Hakha, 1 from CDF Zophei, and 2 from the Chin National Front (CNA) tragically lost their lives.

Among those who have tragically lost their lives, the current death toll includes Salai David Van Tha Lian, Salai Noah Zung Ceu Thang, Salai Samuel (Pu Muak), Salai Tha Lian Cung, Salai Ngun Lian Ceu, Salai Biak Cin Hmung, Salai Richard, and Kyaw Oo.

Following the battle, the confirmation of the identities of the remaining fallen comrades is yet to be established. Additionally, there were reports of injuries sustained during the conflict, the aforementioned source told Narinjara.

From the arrival of the Military Council troops in the Thi Mit area with a strong force on May 25th, intermittent fighting with the Chin defense joint forces persisted until the morning of May 30th.

The Military Council also incurred losses during the battle, and it is believed that the number of casualties on their side might be considerable. However the precise list of their casualties has not been compiled yet, according to the source.

According to CNF/CNA spokesperson Salai Htet Ni, a Military Council column of approximately 150 soldiers advanced from Hakha towards Thantlang, launching attacks in areas where Chin defense forces are believed to be stationed, utilizing fighter jets and military helicopters.

With Thantlang emerging as a formidable stronghold for the Chin resistance forces, it is believed that the Military Council has initiated a comprehensive offensive involving ground and aerial operations in their bid to regain control, potentially leading to a further escalation of hostilities.
