Drugs burned to mark International Day against Drug Abuse

The Myanmar authorities ceremonially burned seized narcotic drugs worth over 451.7 billion kyats (301.2 million U.S. dollars) in three cities of Yangon, Mandalay and Taunggyi on Wednesday, to mark the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
The destroyed drugs in Yangon include heroin, stimulant tablets, ketamine, methamphetamine (ICE), speciosa and others, and were valued at 163 billion kyats (108.7 million U.S. dollars).
There are a total of 29 drug addict treatment departments opened in the country so far, with some 56 sub-departments and 55 Methadone clinics established across the country.
