"The National Day celebration aims to foster appreciation among the Kayan people for their heritage while demonstrating unity among Kayan communities spanning from Naypyidaw and Pawnglawng to Karen State”, an organizer said.
The 24th Kayan National Day celebration took place west of Demoso Township in Karenni State on April 10.
Despite security concerns arising from the Junta's history of bombing crowded events, the ceremony proceeded successfully with a restricted number of attendees, he added.
"The political situation right now is very unstable, and there is a worry about airstrikes. Battles could break out anytime”, the organizer explained.
Approximately 300 individuals participated in the Kayan National Day celebration, which featured activities such as singing the Kayan national anthem, saluting the Kayan national flag, leaders delivering speeches, reading congratulatory messages, showcasing Kayan traditional dances, and hosting lucky draw programs.
