An energy sector civil society organization (CSO) said it thought the energy sector was being exploited through politics though the State was working for electrification of the entire country by 2030.

Save the Natural Resources (Sa Na R) Director April Kyu Kyu was speaking at a 2-day energy workshop held in Yangon at Grand Hill Hotel on June 11 and 12 and attended by total 154 delegates of local people and social organizations coming from States and Regions.

In the workshop, participants agreed to urge the government to give priority to renewable energy which will have less impact on the environment rather than building big hydro power projects and big coal-fired power plants.
