The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) will prioritise households headed by females for aid relief in 10 villages affected by natural disasters in Hakha Township, Chin State.
The UNDP has been supplying aid to five of the villages since August 2015 and will begin supplying aid to the other five before the end of December 2015.
U Tin Ngein, in-charge of the Livelihood and Social Cohesion program under the UNDP said: "We have been assisting five villages in Hakha Township and now we are extending [our assistance] to five more villages. We have a list of all the female headed households to support."
The UNDP aid will go towards repairing the water supply system, road construction and providing capital to pig and poultry farmers to help them with their livelihoods.
U Tin Ngein said: "We found out some weak points on our previous work, especially in pig and poultry farming. After the villagers requested it we discussed [the problems] with officials in our poultry farm and agriculture department."
The UNDP will also supply training to the farmers before the pig and poultry rearing project starts.
The ten villages that the UNDP are supporting in Hakha Township are: Loklung, Chun Cung, Hriarlawn, Bualtak, Tiphul, Buanlung, Tinam, Cinkhua, Aive and Rinpi.
The UNDP have been providing developmental help in Chin State since they opened an office in Hakha in 1997.
