Chairman of the Chinland Defense Force - Daai (CDF-Daai), U Aung Min, stated that the Daai Regional Council (DRC) resigned as a member of the Chinland Council to prioritize the consolidation of the Daai ethnic people in four townships in southern Chin State: Mindat, Matupi, Paletwa, and Kanpetlet.
"This resignation was made to prioritize the gathering of the Daai people, which is our main need. CDF-Daai and DRC are willing to work with an organization that will genuinely lead the process of Chin national construction after completing the consolidation of the Daai ethnic groups. I mean the kind of national construction that creates equal rights for all the different ethnic groups in Chin State and is accepted by the entire population of Chin State”, he said.
CDF-Daai sent a letter of resignation to the Chairman of the Chinland Council on July 12, informing him that it will be resigning as a member entity of the Chinland Council to focus on consolidating all the administrative and defense organizations of the Daai ethnic groups.
CDF-Daai announced that DRC will lead the implementation of the political aspirations of all Daai ethnic groups.
The areas controlled by CDF-Daai currently do not encompass the regions where all Daai ethnic groups reside. Therefore, a Daai People's Conference was held to gather all Daai people from four townships in southern Chin State, leading to the formation of the Daai Regional Council (DRC).
"They resigned not because they disagreed with the policies and structures of the Chinland Council. It's clear they submitted their resignations because they wanted to prioritize consolidating the Daai people in the four townships, and we can understand their choice”, said Salai Paul, the Secretary of the Chinland Council.
At the first Daai People's Conference, successfully held in mid-May, it was agreed to consolidate all Daai ethnic groups across the four townships of southern Chin State, redraw a new map for Daai's territory, and establish the basic principles leading to the formation of the DRC.
Daai people in Kanpetlet, Mindat, Matupi, and Paletwa townships have been separately governed by successive regimes for ages. Now, DRC aims to unify them under a single administration within its governance.
On May 29, DRC announced that the Daai resistance factions in the four townships merged to form CDF-Daai, aiming to protect the entire Daai people.
At the first Daai People's Conference, it was declared that the Daai people plan to unite with all Chin resistance forces in the construction process of Chin State while adhering to a non-partisan policy.
