Bitter Conflict in Mobye Township

On June 9, the 1st Battalion of Mobye People's Defense Forces reported that a total of 13 individuals, including three children, lost their lives due to artillery shells and airstrikes carried out by the Military Council in Mobye Township. These attacks have been ongoing since May 27.Residents reported that some people were fleeing the ongoing fighting, while others were trapped in their homes and monasteries

According to local news sources in Mobye, in another incident the bodies of two young women were discovered in a ward of Mobye (Mongpai) township, located in southern Shan State. Tragically it has been confirmed that these women who had been raped and then shot at close range. They were raped and killed by Military Council troops and their bodies were found along with their father's body on June 9th. They were raped and killed by Military Council soldiers.

A resident of Mobye reported, "We heard that two women were raped and murdered, along with their father. The evidence from the photos makes it evident that this wasn't an accidental shooting. They were taken into custody, subjected to torture, rape, interrogation, and eventually killed. The shootings occurred at close range."

Mobye locals have provided confirmation regarding the tragic killing of two young women and their father. However, when Kantarawaddy Times attempted to contact the People's Defense Force by phone to seek confirmation, they were unable to establish contact.

PDF (People's Defense Force) in Mobye township. The People's Defense Forces have announced that there have been casualties and significant damage to homes as a result of artillery shells and airstrikes launched by the Military Council troops.

Due to the current situation in Mobye Township, it is considered ungovernable both in terms of military control and other aspects. Therefore, the public is urged to prioritize their security and closely follow the announcements made by the defense forces, as stated in the statement of Mobye PDF Battalion-1 on June 9.
