Long march for Arakan’s share over land & natural resources

Over 100 activists have been marching to Kyauk Pru, the headquarter of Shwe gas project, from the Arakanese capital city Sittwe to raise voices for the State’s share over the land & natural resources with the Central government in Naypyi Daw.

The long march program, organized by Arakan natural resources & environmental network, was kicked off Monday morning.  Prior to the program, the activities assembled at Winkabar ground in Sittwe at 6 am where the organizers briefed them about the actions.

The participants chanted slogans in support of rights over land and natural resources for Arakan State in western Myanmar. The march is expected to get concluded by 27 November once the participants arrive in Kyauk Pru.
