The AA announced that ethnic armed organizations, including the National Unity Government (NUG), have donated 1,000 million kyats through the United League of Arakan/Arakan Army (ULA/AA) to assist the cyclone victims in Rakhine State.
The National Unity Government (NUG) contributed 100 million kyats, the Kachin Independence Organization (KIO) donated 300 million kyats, the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) contributed 100 million kyats, the Ta'ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) donated 50 million kyats, the Shan State Progressive Party/Shan State Army (SSPP/SSA) contributed 200 million kyats, the National Democratic Alliance Army (NDAA) donated 200 million kyats, and the New Mon State Party (NMSP) contributed 50 million kyats for the cyclone victims in Rakhine State through the United League of Arakan/Arakan Army (ULA/AA).
The Cyclone Mocha Emergency Rescue and Rehabilitation Committee For Arakan (Cyclone Mocha ERRCA) has announced that the ULA/AA is currently providing emergency food assistance, particularly rice, to the people residing in the severely affected areas of the cyclone, including Rathedaung.
According to U Than Shwe Maung from Nga Tauk Tu Gyi village, the ULA/AA has distributed rice, oil, and tarpaulins to the residents of 12 villages in Rathedaung township. The villages include Nga Tauk Tu Gyi, Nyaung Pin Hla, San Kar, Bar Ta Lay, Pyar Chaung Gyi, Ah Lel, and Htun Ya Wai.
"Yesterday, the residents of 12 villages received rice and tarpaulins as assistance. All of us received the tarpaulins. Additionally, in Rathedaung, there are houses that have been destroyed, and ULA/AA is providing support to rebuild them,” he said.
Cyclone Mocha ERRCA has reported that ULA/AA is actively involved in repairing damaged bridges in the region, distributing emergency drinking water, and providing healthcare services to the local communities.
Ko U Tun Naing from Pyar Chaung Gyi Village, Rathedaung Township said, "We have established a Cyclone Center in our village. The locals have received support through generous donations. Currently, we have received various aid items such as food, rice, and tarpaulins."
DMG contacted U Khaing Thukha, the AA Information Officer, to inquire about AA's plans for ongoing assistance and recovery efforts for the people affected by the cyclone. However, as of now, a response from U Khaing Thukha has not been received.
According to a study conducted by DMG, Rathedaung Township suffered severe damage from Cyclone MOCHA, which struck on May 14. The cyclone resulted in the loss of more than 30 human lives and over 2,000 cattle.
Furthermore, the cyclone affected over one million people residing in Sittwe, Rathedaung, Ponnagyun, Kyauktaw, Pauktaw, Mrauk U, Minbya, and Myebon townships. The cyclone's impact resulted in the destruction of numerous homes and buildings in these areas.
The people of Rakhine who were impacted by the cyclone are encountering numerous challenges in the process of rebuilding. They are currently facing urgent needs for shelter, food, drinking water, and medicine.
The Rakhine State Military Council has made an announcement stating that a total of 1,156,796 individuals have been affected by Cyclone Mocha. The estimated damage caused by the cyclone is valued at 4,698.6 million kyats.
