AA continues capturing military camps in Maungdaw and Paletwa Townships

The Arakan Army (AA) members have captured more military camps in Maungdaw township of Rakhine (Arakan) State and Paletwa township of Chin State in the midst of military reinforcements across the junta controlled areas.

A reliable source close to the AA said on Thursday that since the morning of 15 September, the AA members started attacking Taemawa military camp (station ) and successfully captured it by 1:45 pm. Later they also captured another point hill garrison at Kalat Chaung creek area of Paletwa township.

"We captured the Taemawa military camp yesterday. We also occupied another camp of San Thein Tai strategy point hill at Kalat Chaung. More than 30 bodies of Burmese soldiers were recovered from the camp,” added the source. Some members of the AA also lost their lives in the battle.

The number of captured camps by AA members in Paletwa township has increased to eight now.  Meanwhile, around 30 to 40 soldiers from Kiywa camp near Sami Town in Paletwa township abandoned the camp on Thursday morning without any battle with AA members.

In the evening hours AA members also attacked a military strategy camp located at Mi Dake village in northern Maungdaw township bordering Bangladesh. It was overrun by AA fighters in an hour-long battle.

On 10 September, AA members captured the camp of the 352nd battalion in Maungdaw township. Earlier on 31 August, they captured the pillar number 40 border guard outpost in the same locality.

The Burmese army personnel have increased their strength in various localities and also used jet fighters and helicopters on a number of occasions. But they have not been able to recapture any camp from the control of AA members.
