Suu Myat May Zaw — Dr. Thinn Thinn Hlaing from Bago Region, Public Health Department, Vaccination and Infectious Disease Unit said that 37 Chinese nationals from Bago industrial zone were being monitored but they are not yet designated as suspect cases.
The Chinese nationals came back from China after the Chinese New Year festival holiday. They are kept in isolation rooms and kept away from other factory workers and they will be monitored closely for two weeks and their body temperature checked twice a day by health workers.
“At this time of outbreak of Wuhan Coronavirus, Chinese and other nationals entered our country. In Bago city, there are many joint venture factories with Chinese companies. So, we have to gather information on anyone coming back from Wuhan or any other country where the virus infection has been confirmed,” Dr. Thinn Thinn Hlaing said.
There are 59 factories in Bago industrial zone in which Chinese nationals work in over 40.
Apart from Bago industrial zone, exit and entry of foreign nationals at other industrial zones in 28 townships in Bago Region, factories, hotels and guesthouses are also being monitored.
