35 Mawgyun residents were arrested after Junta collaborators suffered PDF attacks in Ayeyarwady

Nearly three-dozen local people were arrested after key collaborators with military regime had suffered separate attacks in Mawgyun (Mawlamyinegyun) township of Ayeyarwady division, locals said.

“After the Pyu-Saw-Htee leader and his mother were shot, and the home of the hundred-house-group-elder in Kyun Gyi village suffered a bomb attack, arrests intensified”, a local said.

The home of U Myint Soe, a hundred-house-group-elder of Kyun Gyi village in the Mawgyun township area and an informant of the Military Council, was bombed on December 8th.In addition, Pyu-Saw-Htee leader U Min Min and his mother from Sin Ma We Chaung village were also shot on December 5th.

After those events, excessive arrests were conducted until December 16th and according to the latest figures, the number of local people arrested by the Military Council has increased to 35.

A source close to some of the detainees said. "None of the detainees have been released yet. Junta soldiers are the brutes who only understand how to beat and torture. So the families of all those arrested are very worried. And they will almost certainly be jailed, if they can’t pay the bribe.”

The PDF (People’s Defense Forces of Mawgyun (Mawgyun-PDF) announced “Kyung Gyi village’s hundred-house-group-elder U Myint Soe conspired with the Military Council forces to seal off the houses of two people who disagreed with him. He frequently committed inappropriate acts like threating the locals, arresting and harassing the supporters of the revolution, and extorting money while checking the overnight guest lists, so they decided to bomb his home.”

In a separate incident, the EAGLE GUERILLA FORCE (Mawgyun) confirmed that they orchestrated a gun-attack on the Pyu-Saw-Htee leader Min Min and his mother from Sin Ma We

from Chaung village, because those were used to disrupt revolutionary forces in various ways, and threatened the civilians.

U Myint Soe’s home suffered minor damage, and no one was injured in the bomb attack. However, Pyu Saw Htee leader U Min Min and his mother suffered serious gunshot wounds and are still undergoing treatment, according to the locals.
