24% of CCTV installation in Mawlamyine completed

The CCTV installation in Mawlamyine, which has been under construction since the NLD government and continued implementation under the current Military Council, has completed more than 24 percent.

The project, called Safe City, is part of the Ministry of Home Affairs, which has installed CCTV cameras in public places for security reasons to watch and monitor the movement.

After the Military has seized the power, Colonel Nay Htut Oo, chairman of the Safe City project tender committee, issued an order, instructing the winning bidders’ companies to implement the project as soon as possible.

Currently, the connected cables are to install CCTV in major areas of the city.

In addition, a control center for CCTV surveillance is under construction inside the Mon State Government Office.

An unnamed person told the Thanlwin Times that CCTV installation was the priority in the major areas of the city in this fiscal year.

"Currently, we are connecting the fiber cables. A control center is also under construction. When all is said and done, the CCTV installation will begin. The control center has built inside the Mon State government office. Some of the CCTV cameras will be installed during this fiscal year. The major area will be prior.”

Similarly, Yangon and Naypyidaw are implementing this project as well.

CCTV cameras installed in Yangon and Naypyidaw can track the license plates as well as the criminal background of a former perpetrator.

In addition, CCTV cameras which are worth more than 50 million kyats can capture the faces of people in a car on the road, as well as the faces of individuals in the crowd.

Naung Yoe Company and FISCA Company have won a tender for the project in Mawlamyine.

These companies have a military background, and Naung Yoe Company is a major importer of intelligence technology.
