150 Junta Soldiers Flee to India’s Mizoram State after Regime Loss of Military Base Captured by Arakan Army Near the Border

Approximately 150 Junta soldiers were compelled to abandon their base in Paletwa Township in southern Chin State due to offensives launched by the Arakan Army (AA), sought refuge in Mizoram State India, as reported by Vanglaini, a local media outlet.

On December 29th, approximately 150 soldiers of the coup Military Council, including wounded personnel, sought refuge with the Assam Rifles paramilitary force stationed at Tuisentlang in Lawngtlai, Mizoram State.

According to AA, it launched operations to capture the base on December 27-28th, and  seized control of the Khawe tactical command base in Paletwa and the military camp situated on Point-377 hill along the India-Myanmar border.

AA claimed that numerous Military Council troops were killed in the clashes, prompting

the remaining forces to flee for their lives. It is likely that the aforementioned approximately 150 soldiers, who reached Mizoram in a desperate attempt to flee, are from the Point-377 camp.

In a similar incident, in November, about 100 troops from the Military Council retreated

from their outposts and sought refuge in Mizoram, prompted by escalated base-capturing operations carried out by resistance forces in Chin State.

At that time, Indian authorities employed helicopters to transport all the fleeing Military Council troops back into Myanmar, delivering them into the hands of the coup Regime.
