A daring jailbreak took place at Taung Lay Lone (Four Hills) Prison, in Nyaungshwe Township, Taunggyi District of Shan State, which led to the escape of 10 prisoners. Nonetheless, the prison authorities managed to apprehend two individuals who were attempting to flee from the prison while another inmate was shot dead.
The jailbreak occurred at Dormitory No. 2 of the prison on the morning of March 14th, when inmates broke the wooden railings of the dormitory stairs and used them as weapons to attack two prison wardens.
Subsequently, as the prisoners attempted to escape over the prison wall, additional wardens arrived and opened fire, resulting in the death of one prisoner and two others being wounded, and recaptured. However, the remaining ten inmates managed to escape.
The individual who died in the incident, along with the two who were recaptured, were identified as political prisoners who had been arrested for engaging in anti-military activities.
At present, the Military Council and its subordinate security forces are conducting a frantic search for the ten individuals who managed to escape from the prison.
