Millions of 'Yaba' or methamphetamine pills were seized near an inspection gate in Mae Yang village, Tachilek Township on 8 March, 2009.

According to a person close to the police station two million methamphetamine pills were seized from a truck, which came from Kengtung to Tachilek, at Mae Yang's inspection gate on March 8.

"The truck was not carrying any goods. The inspection group searched the truck thoroughly. Two million methamphetamine pills and one million Kyats were seized while searching the truck."

Two Shan men were carrying the drugs. Both were detained in Tachilek police station. They will be put on trail in a court, he added.

A police officer in the Tachilek police station confirmed that the incident of drug seizure was true. “We seized it but it was not much. It's only two million pills,” he added.

He said that policemen have been investigating drug carriers because they refused to give the name of owners of drug pills.

It's learnt that 35 kilograms of heroin was seized in Tachilek Township at the end of last February.
