The Arakan National Party (ANP) has invited nominations for candidates who are interested in contesting Parliamentary polls scheduled for next year.
The ANP is expecting all the nominations to be received by 31st December said a party source.
U Tha Kyaw, the State Parliament representative from Minbya constituency said: “We released a statement on 2nd December asking for nominations from people who want to contest the three Parliamentary constituencies in Minbya Township. The last date [to apply] has been fixed for 31st December 2014.”
There are three vacant seats in the State and National Parliament for Minbya Township, he added.
He said: “We are expecting that the next election will be conducted in the early part of 2015. Therefore we are seeking the nominations for party candidates a little earlier.”
Political analysts believe that more and more people would like be candidates in the polls as the Union Parliament has recently agreed to increase the salary of representatives to one million kyats per month.
