According to local media outlets, the successful operation was carried out at 8 pm on 13th October by a patrolling  squad of Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB).

The amphetamine tablets are understood to be worth Taka 23.2 million (290,000 USD), said a BGB official. However, the search team did not arrest anybody as the rowboat containing the drugs had been abandoned by the traffickers.

Previously, in the early hours of 12th October BGB personnel from the  same battalion had seized 100,000 Yaba tablets worth Taka 30 million (375,000 USD) from a locality near Teknaf township.

Similarly, the Bangladesh border police force seized 40,000 Yaba tablets from the same location on the night of 11th October. No one could be  arrested as the traffickers yet again managed to escape before security personnel arrived.

All the Yaba tablets are believed to be trafficked from Burma to Bangladesh where it is also illegal. It is a lucrative business, Yaba tablets sell for far higher prices in Bangladesh than in Burma.
