Burma and Bangladesh are scheduled to engage in the foreign secretary level meeting on June 14. The meeting will take place in Naypyidaw, the new remote capital of Burma.

The high level delegates from both the countries will discuss many old bilateral issues including the refugees, trade & commerce, connectivity and import of gas & electricity from Burma (to Bangladesh) in the meeting.
The Bangladesh government in Dhaka is also expected to highlight the longstanding issue of Burmese Muslim refugees, who have been living in two refugee camps namely Nayapara and Koto Palong, located at Cox ajar district of Bangladesh.
The Bangladesh delegates, to be led by its foreign secretary Shahidul Haque, will also re-invite the Burmese President U Thein Sein to visit their country.
Thein Sein planned to visit Bangladesh last year but the sectarian violence in Arakan State involving the Buddhist and Muslim residents resulted in the cancelation of the programme.
The Burmese President’s visit to Bangladesh is long overdue and Dhaka hopes that the goodwill visit would improve the bilateral relationship to a new height, said the media report.
The meeting will also throw light on other important issues like smuggling along the international border, resumption of direct flights between the two countries, improving regional cooperation & connectivity etc.
