Army Interrogates Arakanese Residents in Mrauk-U
The army is interrogating Arakanese villagers after the recent communal violence in the state.
RNDP Vice President for Mrauk-U Township U Aye Maung Than said he wasn’t sure if the villagers have been arrested. But he’s heard the suspects who were taken in the morning are being released in the evening.
The villagers are from; Yaing The, Than Shwan Pyin, Thu Ray Chaung and Maha Htee Villages. Soldiers also questioned six people from several other villages in the region.
Many people are worried they will also be interrogated by authorities.
