Bangladesh Coast Guard has rescued 289 Burmese fishermen and 36 boats from the Bay of Bengal Wednesday according to Bangladesh media.
During the routine patrol, the Bangladesh Border security force (BGB) rescued them while the fishermen caught up in rough sea near Saint Martin Island, located at mouth of Naf River.
The rescued are being provided with foods, water, and other assistance by local authority and Bangladesh Navy.
When the weather was favorable ocean will be sent back to Burma said Coast Guard commander. But 36 small fishing boats fish have not chance to return back to Burma currently due to heavy wind and waves in the sea.
There is a small storm in Bay of Bengal brewing with wind speed of 45 mile per hour today.
